Gas in Sweden
Gas makes up only a minor portion of Sweden's total energy mix. Electricity is mainly produced in hydroelectric and nuclear power plants with wind power steadily rising in importance. Heat, except for private houses, is usually supplied via district heating systems from biomass fired CHP:s. In private houses heat pumps is another common source of heat. The transportation sector still heavily relies on fossile fuels, where biogas/biomethane/bio-SNG, ethanol and HVO's currently make up the renewable alteranatives for the future. In the future also metahnol, DME, electricity and hydrogen could be foreseen as other alternatives.
